Health and Safety
Grand Cayman
Island is not a third world country
so immunization shots are not necessary.
The
Government of the Cayman Islands has recently
completed the expansion of its
main hospital into a
large Health Services Complex located in George Town,
Grand
Cayman. It boasts modern equipment and facilities,
in addition to an increased
number of highly trained personnel.
A 24 hour hyperbaric decompression chamber
is available for
divers and an air ambulance service for other emergencies.
There is also a private hospital currently under construction
and a number of
other private facilities that offer a variety of
professional medical services.
You should use common sense on Grand Cayman Island just
as you would no matter
where you are traveling. Never go
anywhere alone. Report uncomfortable
situations to an adult sponsor.
Some
of the coral is very sharp and certain coral, as a defense system,
contains an
irritant that causes extreme discomfort if touched.
DO NOT touch any
coral or plant life.
Enjoy the beauty, take
pictures.....just don't touch.

Sunburn
can be very serious so waterproof sunscreen
should be worn at all times. Wearing
a tshirt over your
bathing suit is advised, at least for part of the day.
The
weather is mild on Grand Cayman but because of
the close proximity to the
equator, sunrays are much stronger.
