*Are there books for Boyds' collectors?
Yes.
Mary Jo Truax's "Check-n-It" Versions I, II and  III
Collector's Value Guide...The Boyds Collection  (CVG)

*What do these letters mean?
GCC - Gift Creations Concepts...a catalog group which includes
over 300 retail stores nationwide who offer exclusive pieces
and early releases
GRS - this means that the piece has been made from a mold that has been "rescuplted".  AKA "RS"
N.A.L.E.D. - National Association of Limited Edition Dealers

*Why does mine look different from the pictures in the CVG?
Some of the pictures in the CVG are "prototypes" which were changed when they were actually produced.  A prime example is Edmund F'94...who actually wears a hat that matches his sweater.

*I have a bear that I can't identify; it's not in any of the books...what do I do?
The easiest thing to do is post its description on any/all of the Boyds Boards.   Make sure you include the following info:
~measurement in inches from head to toe
~last date on tush tag (sewn in tag)
~date on hang tag (on the back...tiny, tiny print!)
~type of fur...smooth, curly, wool, chenille?
~poly stuffed or bean filled?
~color of fur (match him up to another in your collection...for
instance..."same color as Neville")
~any distinguishing characteristic/clothing
